John currently serves in several broadcast and media capacities, including 38 years as radio play-by-play voice for Providence College basketball in the Big East; 35 seasons as the familiar "Voice of Gillette Stadium" and event emcee for the six-time NFL Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots; 25 years as a talk show host for Patriots.com Radio; 17 years as a writer and columnist for several digital media outlets and the Providence Journal; twelve years as a syndicated radio show/podcast host for the Big East Conference and Westwood One (This Week in the Big East).
51 seasons, past and present, have been spent working with and for professional sports franchises and collegiate athletic departments in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Texas.
John has also served as a college professor for 21 years at Emerson College in Boston, Dean College in Franklin, MA and as a graduate-level instructor at Regis College in Weston, MA, with instruction in Journalism, Communication Studies and Sports Broadcasting.
His teaching position at Dean (since 2015) includes serving as the Director of the Center for Business, Entertainment and Sport Management, an exclusive academic partnership with Kraft Sports + Entertainment (New England Patriots/Revolution). John also runs a popular and successful summer sports broadcasting program at Dean.
Previous work includes 19 seasons calling Big East, ACC, MAC, Ivy League, Boston College and UMass football on local and national radio/TV; NBA, MLB, MiLB, MLS and pro football play-by-play on radio and TV; hosting Inside the Big East, Golfing the World and calling college basketball play-by-play on ESPNU and regional sports networks; 40+ years in talk radio, including WOR New York, WOAI San Antonio, KTRH Houston and the WEEI Radio Network throughout New England; 13 years as a national talk host on ESPN Radio and the NBC Sports Radio Network; 25 years as a television sports anchor and reporter for stations in Boston, Providence, New York, Hartford, San Antonio and Waco, TX.
His voice has been heard on local radio and TV stations, on networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, ESPN) and in public and private forums and arenas as an announcer, speaker and emcee.
