I vividly remember staring at my TV, muting the audio and emulating a broadcaster when I was nine years old as Kentucky upset undefeated Wichita State. This became something I did frequently while watching sports. I always thought that I wanted to be a sports broadcaster, but I never thought it could actually happen, until it did.
Living in a small town, everyone knows your business, so the superintendent of our school district knew that I went to a play-by-play sports broadcasting camp at Emory University when I was in sixth grade. When my high school was looking to start a sports broadcasting service for football games, I was the first call, and I accepted in a heartbeat. Little did I know that I had found a true lifelong passion.
I called high school football (including two state championships at the University of Kentucky's Kroger Field), soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, and swim and dive during my time at BCHS before heading to the University of Georgia on a full-ride scholarship as a Foundation Fellow. At UGA, I have called soccer, basketball, baseball and softball games for Georgia Gwinnett College. I called GGC's CAC and NAIA tournament soccer matches, as well as the first-ever basketball games in the school's history. I have also begun working as a freelancer for Georgia State University's ESPN+ broadcasts. I was able to call GSU's historic upset over #3 West Virginia in men's soccer this year, as well as a walk-off win over Old Dominion in baseball.
Outside of my time in Athens, I worked in England for a summer at Mansfield Town Football Club, a professional soccer team in England's League One, where I was able to interview players, write features and press releases, design the club website, shoot and edit video for the club's social media, create and edit graphics for the club's social media, serve as the public address announcer and even do play-by-play for the club's friendly against Chelsea's U21s in Albufeira, Portugal. I have also worked as the General Manager for the Danville Locomotive and spent time in Madrid, Spain, studying Sports Management at Real Madrid's University.
